LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE & CLINICAL MASSAGE THERAPY
RELIEF, REJUVENATION, RECOVERY
Modern Body is a private practice massage therapy clinic specializing in lymphatic drainage, post-surgical recovery, pain management, soft tissue rehabilitation, post-surgical, and oncology massage. If you are looking to utilize natural, hands-on techniques to ease the effects of post-operative procedures, reduce pain, inflammation, or fatigue, address the root cause of your soft tissue issues, and want to feel function and perform your best, look no further!
Massage for oncology clients is about understanding the effects of cancer and cancer treatment on the body and adapting soft tissue techniques to safely and effectively meet the client where they are at in their treatment. Research shows skilled massage therapy helps to reduce nausea during chemotherapy, reduces anxiety and induces sleep. Because cancer treatments and cancer itself can have immediate or lasting effects on the body that can be adversely affected by certain bodywork techniques, clients going through cancer treatment or with an oncology history benefit most when working with a massage therapist trained and experienced in oncology massage and lymphedema risk.
Post -operative massage utilizes various techniques to support the body's recovery after surgery whether from joint replacement, cosmetic, reconstructive and liposuction procedures. In the initial weeks following surgery lymphatic drainage therapy alleviates swelling and pain, reduces fibrosis and promotes better outcomes for wound healing and scar formation. In later stages of healing deeper styles of work may be used to address scar tissue and myofascial adhesions.
Soft tissue techniques and lymphatic drainage reduce tension, restriction and swelling in areas effected by lymph node dissection, mastectomy, and breast reconstruction. These techniques can help relieve tension and pressure from tissue expanders after a fill, increase shoulder range of motion and decrease cording from axillary web syndrome.
Breast Cancer Rehabilitation
Welcome to my rehabilitative massage therapy practice! I have been a practicing massage and lymphatic drainage therapist for over 20 years. How I do massage and bodywork differently starts with setting appointment times with a 30-minute buffer in between clients. This allows time to discuss health concerns and treatment goals, develop a session plan and conclude with any post treatment considerations to further enhance the outcome of your session. Additionally, this time allows for proper sanitization of surfaces and allows for air flow through the treatment room in between clients.
Doing bodywork differently includes over 1,400 hours of core education, staying current with research, continuously educating, having thousands of hands-on hours and experience providing bodywork for patients in radiation, infusion and on the medical floor as well as working with surgeons, chiropractors, professional dancers, and sports teams.
Through the use of manual, therapeutic, hands-on techniques I have helped thousands of people find relief from pain, swelling, headaches, postural issues, repetitive stress injuries, post-surgical recovery, autoimmune issues, oncology treatment and more. At Modern Body Massage & Lymph Drainage, all styles of therapy are priced the same. Clients are free to change the style of therapy or session plan itself at any time without penalty. When treating specific issues, multiple modalities are often utilized, so don't worry which style to choose at booking. We will always create a treatment plan together that is specific to what you need at the time of your service.
What I enjoy most about my work is helping people feel better in their bodies and minds and empowering them with the tools and education for their own self-care.
